| ABB Robotics Controls The Robots At INTERPHEX
ABB Robotics will be exhibiting its new fifth generation robot controller at INTERPHEX at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, New York, April 24-26. Visitors to ABB Robotics booth 1807 at INTERPHEX will see a demonstration on how the IRC5 and ABB Robotics world leading robot range can optimize pharmaceutical and biotechnology production. The IRC5 robot controller will reveal at the show how it sets new standards with its modular concept, ergonomically designed portable interface and simplified operation of single or multiple robot cells. Being designed for panel mounting, it is ideal for integrators and system designers or for retrofitting into existing upgraded systems. Easy integration with existing equipment designs, substantial space savings and exceptional versatility makes the IRC5 a cost effective investment that is readily expandable to meet future demands of the pharmaceutical industry.
Of age, old school reunions and mini skirts
I DON'T admire the position of the Editor, particularly if he has to bank on totally unreliable contributors like me. His heart must have skipped a couple of beats when I failed to submit last week's copy and also when I came up late with this piece. After my tirade against doctors a couple of week ago, he must have found it very difficult to consult any of them given that they would rather have stabbed him with a scalpel or injected him with something harmful. For the anxiety I caused the poor soul, I apologise. For the rest of you, I don't give a hoot. Tribute is only paid to those who pay the piper who, in this case, should be me. As you have figured out by now, this is supposed to be a humorous column even though it has become increasingly hard to find anything funny to write about these days.
Conflict surrounds Boston lead singer's death, funeral
CONCORD -- The band Boston spoke to people's souls during the 1970s with smash hits like "More Than a Feeling" and "Peace of Mind." But two weeks after lead singer Brad Delp's suicide at his New Hampshire home, bad feelings abound. Current members of the band, including the chief songwriter and founder, Tom Scholz, were not informed about or invited to Delp's funeral, which was attended by early band members who opposed Scholz in a 1980s legal battle. Last week, Delp's ex-wife Micki was quoted on a radio station saying Delp was distressed about the conflicts in his professional life and became despondent after a longtime friend, Fran Cosmo, was cut from Boston's summer concert lineup. The story spread online, where fans trying to figure out the reason for Delp's suicide took up the cudgels.

Strategy Analytics’ Neena Buck to Co-Chair, Speak at 2007 ...
BOSTON--Neena Buck, Vice President of the Strategy Analytics Intelligent Systems Implementation Strategies (ISIS) program, has been invited to co-chair the 2007 RoboBusiness Conference and Exposition, to be held May 15-16 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. The RoboBusiness conference is produced by Robotics Trends and EH Publishing. More information about this event can be found at http://www.roboevent.com/. For the past three years, Ms. Buck has been on the advisory boards of both the RoboNexus and RoboBusiness conferences. In addition to her role as conference co-chair, Ms. Buck will moderate a panel discussion, "Mobile Robotics: Subsystems, Sensors and Components," and will also deliver a talk, entitled, "Intelligent Vehicles: Applying Autonomous Vehicle Technologies to Automobiles." "Autonomous robots are indicators of how many devices will act in the future: these robots represent the leading edge of smart systems that are aware of their environment, and are able to sense, perceive, recognize patterns, reason and take appropriate action under dynamically changing conditions," states Neena Buck, Vice President of the Intelligent Systems program at Strategy Analytics.
